ROBERT CORNEILLIE

June 23, 1927 - December 21, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Corneillie, who left us peacefully on December 21, 2025.

Dad was born in Ile des Chenes, attended school there and worked the dairy/farm with his parents, and other siblings, until he met and married Lillian (Lil). Social events at that time were barn or hall dances. This was where everyone went to party and have fun. It was at one of those events that Dad met Lil and later married.

Their first years of marriage was in Ile des Chenes until they moved to a farm in Rosewood, where they lived most of their life and raised their daughters. Poor Dad, five females in the house but he never complained that he only had girls and he showed his love for us constantly.

Dad was a person who loved company and socializing. He loved to play cards for a few coins with family (especially) and friends, curling, snowmobiling and playing his guitar.

When his girls married or brought home boyfriends, he welcomed them into the family. Now he had boys in the family. This meant more fun. Dad enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Never a person to say no to a challenge, he would try anything, no matter how old he was and always with a smile on his face. One such event was when the sons-in-law challenged each other and Dad, where you had to stand on a sleigh, pulled by a snow machine and see who could last the longest. Well, all the sons-in-law thought this was no problem, until they found out they couldn’t go more than a few yards and fell off. I think you all know how this turned out. Dad gets on the sleigh, waves to everyone and gets pulled standing on the sleigh around the yard never falling. Never count our Dad out.

Robert leaves behind his daughters: Irene (Tom), Valerie (Lawrence), Jeri (Lorne) and Donna (Don); Grandchildren: Ryan (Kaytee), Chris (Alexya), Brian (Kate), Kelly (Navin), Dale (Brett), Robyn (Matt), Craig (Shandi), Kail (Renee) and Brody. Great-grandchildren: Jack, Max, Hailey, Maeve, Mabelle, Rylen, Rhett, Carter and Theo. sister Elizabeth; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Carol.

Predeceased by his loving wife Lil, parents, Alphonse and Elizabeth and Lil’s parents, George and Mary. Siblings, Gaston, Alphonse, Rene, Katherine. In-laws, Laura, Margie, Ed (Marie), Clara, Robert (Elsie), Leonard (Inez), Richard (Mary) Arsen and George, and grandson Jeffery Beech.

We would like to thank the staff at Heritage Personal Care Home and a very special thanks to the staff in Lilac Court where Dad spent his last few years. Dad appreciated the staff very much.

In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to a charity of your choice or the Heritage PCH in Niverville.

As per the families wishes, a private family service will be held at Green Acres.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • So sorry for your loss, Uncle Bob was always smiling, I was driving the old Chevy 3 ton, I had left the field with a load of grain and was going a little fast, turrned into the driveway, I realized I was going too fast, while your Dad and mom were having coffee with my mom and dad, and Uncle Bob says to my parents, he's going pretty fast and were expecting me and the load of grain ending up in the ditch, but not sure how I got the truck to stay upright and on the driveway, I drove into the yard and he came over still smiling and say something like maybe next time a little slower. - Posted by: Murray and Janet Corneillie (nephew) on: Jan 05, 2026

  • Condolences on Bob’s passing. I remember him from our days in Arondale at community events at the church. He and Lil were always very pleasant and friendly. May he rest in peace. Sincerely, Josie Landry and all the Bielik Family - Posted by: Josie Landry (Neighbour) on: Jan 04, 2026
